Let's Toast the Bride to Be

I just finalized the design for the bridal shower invites for a dear friend of mine.  I'm hosting her shower at our house later this month.  It took a few drafts, but I am so excited about the invites.  I went with an off white pearl paper to match her wedding invites.  Then I wrapped burlap around the center of the invite and tied with raffia and a few stems of lavender.  We have a number of lavender bushes in the back yard growing wild so I needed to trim them down and thought I'd add them to the invites.

I also thought I'd share the best way to cut burlap.  If you have ever tried to cut it straight, its near impossible.  It always ends up crooked.  I saw this trick on the Internet and it really works well.

Step 1. Find where you want to cut the fabric.

Step 2. Grab one of the threads and slowly begin to pull, if you pull too hard the thread might break.

Step 3. Once the thread is removed, there will be a noticeable line in the fabric (its a little hard to see in this image, but in person its easy to see)

Step 4: Cut along the line,  now you will have a perfect line with out all of the fray ends.
