I'm Soo excited for the family room makeover! This has been my least favorite room and beside the bedroom we have been spending the most time in the room. I always disliked the paneling, it made the room seem so dark. I almost vetoed the house before we bought it because of this room.
The makeover kinda all happened on accident. I was spending a night on Pintrest and came across and idea to white wash the paneling. Not a great idea (post to come) and ended up having to paint. So I had to pick a color, Ocean Breeze, (I think) from Benjamin Moore. I wanted a light color, as it would defeat the purpose of painting the room if I went with a dark color.
The current rug was original to the house and since Ellie has been crawling, we wanted a clean new carpet. For anyone local, go to McNabbs in South Lyon/Milford. Its right off the expressway and they sell new remnants for dirt cheap. Anything 12 by 15 and under is 40 bucks!
We had to move the current coffee table down stairs and it was not Ellie proof.
I lined the bookcase with wrapping paper (post also to follow), it was a big updated on a tiny budget!
